Double Shredded Hardwood is a mixed hardwood mulch consisting of Oak, Maple and other hardwood tree bark. It is completely organic and no pesticides or other chemical treatments have been added. It is excellent for use in beds around your home and helps suppress weeds, reduce soil erosion, and aids in holding moisture for your plants.

Dyed Brown Double Shredded Hardwood
Our Dyed Brown mulch is made from our Double Shredded Regular Brown mulch, but is processed by adding an organic dye that is completely safe for use around your home. Dyed Brown has a darker and richer color than the regular hardwood mulch. It will maintain its color for most of the season with minimal fading.

The Department of Social Services of the Commonwealth of Virginia Standards for Licensed Child Day Centers says that to be in compliance with the National Handbook for Public Playground Safety it is important to follow these guidelines:
- Never use less than 9 inches of loose-fill material. Shallower depths are too easily displaced and compacted.
- Loose-fill materials will compress at least 25% over time due to use and weathering. This must be considered when planning the playground. For example, if the playground will require 9 inches of wood chips, then the initial fill level should be 12 inches.
- Loose-fill surfacing requires frequent maintenance to ensure surfacing levels never drop below the minimum depth. Areas under swings and at slide exits are more susceptible to displacement; special attention must be paid to maintenance in these areas.
